The cold air whipped through the narrow alley as Knox tightened his scarf. The shadows of the city loomed, and the distant hum of traffic faded into an eerie silence. He had to find her.
He called, his voice echoing off the cobblestones: "Morana!"
A soft whimper came from the darkness, followed by a tiny figure stumbling into the light. Moranaโs wide eyes were filled with fear, As she whispered, her voice a fragile thread: "Knox?"
He knelt down: "shh, it's okay"
His heart pounding. โYouโre safe with me. Weโre getting out of here.โ
Morana hesitated, her fingers ttremblin: โIโฆ I donโt remember.โ
Knoxโs stomach twisted at her words: โItโs alright. You donโt need to remember. Just trust me.โ
Suddenly, footsteps thudded behind them. Knoxโs instincts kicked in. He shouted, grabbing her hand: "Run!"
They dashed through the winding streets, the sound of heavy boots pounding after them.
Morana cried, panting from all the running she did: "where are we going?"
Knox replied, glancing back: "Anywhere but here!"

modest villa with warm lights glowing through the windows. He pulled her inside, locking the door, his heart pounding in his chest.
He whispered, but doubt gnawed at him: "Safe,"
The past wouldnโt stay buried, his back pressed against the door, eyes closed as the loud sound of his breathing can be heard in the silence of the home.
Morana asked, her small voice breaking through the silence of the home: "Will you stay with me?"
He promised, though the weight of unspoken truths loomed over them, a storm on the horizon: "Always?"
